if You book chef Mickey do you get to see the fireworks in the same spot as if you do California grill? We like the menu better at chef Mickey but want a great view of the fireworks

Welcome to Disney Parks Moms Panel, Kristine!

Oh, you have named two fantastic--yet very different--dining locations at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Excellent choices!

Chef Mickey's is a wonderful character buffet, hosted by The Big Cheese himself, and I agree with you on that menu: it's fantastic! (That Poached Shrimp Cocktail gets me every time.) Several floors up, California Grill--one of our favorite Signature Restaurants--boasts an elegant menu and some of the most breathtaking views of Walt Disney World. At nighttime, Guests who have dined at California Grill may view Magic Kingdom Park's Happily Ever After from inside the restaurant, at the California Grill Lounge, or on the observation deck (weather permitting).

If you prefer to dine at Chef Mickey's, but would like to try to view Happily Ever After from a nearby location, you have a few options. First, if there is room at California Grill Lounge (no reservations; available on a first-come, first-served basis), you may order an after-dinner drink, coffee, or dessert and relax after your wonderful dinner. Tucked just inside California Grill, Guests here enjoy the same menu as the restaurant as well as that gorgeous view.

One of my family's favorite fireworks experience takes place on Seven Seas Lagoon. Book an after-dinner trip on Pirates & Pals Fireworks Dessert Voyagefor a spectacular water view of Happily Ever After, PLUS a lot of fun with Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, the hilarious pirate Patch, and a magical surprise ending. Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise is another lovely way to enjoy the magic of the show from the water side of Magic Kingdom Park.

Another possible viewing point post-Chef Mickey's is a balcony that is tucked just outside on the 4th floor of Disney's Contemporary Resort, at the opposite end of the concourse from Chef Mickey's. You'll have an obstructed view due to the monorail, and, at times, there may be some refurbishment occurring that may prevent a better view, but many folks often wander out there prior to the start of the show.

Of course, the very best place to view Happily Ever After is from inside Magic Kingdom Park, and that's just a quick ten-minute walk from Chef Mickey's!

As you plan your visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth, be sure to send us more questions, Kristine. We love to help!
