when can i book character dining as well as what time for april 8 or 9th ? can i also book character dining at a resort i am not staying at ?

Hey there, Christina! Welcome to planDisney!

Your question brings up two of my favorite things: visiting The Walt Disney World Resort and Eating while visiting The Walt Disney World Resort! Dining at Walt Disney World is an attraction all on its own. And character dining experiences add a special magic every time! My family loves the character dining at Tusker House Restaurant in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park! Not only is the food unique and delicious, but we also get to see Donald Duck and his Disney pals in their spiffy Safari gear!

Christina, Resort Guests can book dining reservations 60 days before their arrival date at 5:45 a.m. EST in their My Disney Experience account online or via the My Disney Experience app. However, I recommend using the website! Disney Resorts Collection Hotel guests can book dining reservations for their entire stay at the time noted above. For your arrival date of April 8th, you can book dining reservations on Monday, February 7th, at 5:45 am EST. I recommend booking your desired character dining reservations first as they are extremely popular and may fill up quickly! Keep in mind that reservation availability is constantly changing.  So if you don't get one of your desired times/dates on the first try, check back periodically to see if any new availability has popped up! Additionally, you are free to book character dining at any available restaurant across The Walt Disney World Resort, no matter where you are staying!

Please keep in mind that character dining is currently modified across Disney World restaurant locations to ensure the safety of our beloved Disney pals and Walt Disney World Guests by allowing for proper distancing. Practically speaking, when our Disney Character friends travel throughout the restaurant dining rooms, they will maintain a safe distance from patrons and will not make any stops at individual tables.

I hope this helps, Christina! If you have more questions as you plan, stop back by and ask us. The magic awaits!

    Until Next Time,
