I would like to book a character breakfast at the Grand Californian. I see that reserv. open 60 days out. However, I can’t book a reserv. for a large group (11). It shows there are avail.spaces. I tried to book 2 smaller groups but I can’t have two reser

    Welcome back to planDisney, Patricia!

A character breakfast is a great way to kick off your day with some extra magic. Whether you're dining at Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures or at Mickey's Autumn Adventures Breakfast at Storytellers Cafe, you are going to love the mix of whimsy, hugs, high-fives, and delicious food. It's also a great place for a large party to gather and experience something together before you head off in different directions once you're inside the parks. Let's see if we can get you sorted with a reservation

You are correct that dining reservations can open as early as 60 days in advance, and it's great to get a jump start to secure any locations you may have your heart set on. I took a look at availability for both Storytellers Cafe and Disney Princess Adventures, and I believe you are referring to Storytellers, as that has the most availability over the next few weeks. I see what you are saying about the party size, as it looks like there is only availability for parties up to 8 online. We always recommend that large groups make two separate, smaller reservations, but as you've discovered, one person is not able to make overlapping dining reservations. You would need to tap another adult member of your party who has their own Disneyland account to make the second reservation, hopefully at or around the same time as the first. When you arrive to check in, mention that the two reservations are one party and the host will do their very best to seat you together.

In addition to booking two concurrent reservations, I have a few other tips for you to try. If you are staying overnight at any of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels, you have preferred reservation access to a limited number of table-service dining reservations at the resorts themselves. I'd recommend calling Guest Services with your account information and hotel confirmation number to see if they are able to assist and what may be available to you. Even if you are not staying on property, it doesn't hurt to give the Guest Service Cast Members a call to see if they can provide further assistance in booking a large party.

I actually just returned from the Grand Californian, where I enjoyed Donald's Tales of Adventure Dinner Buffet at Storytellers. Let me tell you, it was one of the best character dining experiences I have ever had. It will be well worth the extra legwork to secure that reservation for your group! The character interactions were priceless as they come directly to your table and spend a few minutes with just your party. Not to mention, the buffet was delicious! I know you are heading there for breakfast, which I'm sure is just as delectable, but the dinner was incredible, with lots of treats and healthy options as well. The cornbread with the honey butter was a hit for me!
