    do you have to book a certain time for each ride to be able to use genie plus? what if you miss your time?

    Hi Nyla. Thanks for reaching out to planDisney again. We're always happy to help!

    I usually use the Disney Genie+ Service when I go to the Walt Disney World Resort. I like to maximize my time in the parks and I love that I can use this service to bypass the main standby queue for over 40 attractions at the resort for a shorter wait! This way, I have more time for snacking around the parks and shopping at one of the many unique merchandise locations around the resort.

    When you go to make your Lighting Lane reservations, you will find the attraction you'd like to experience on the Tip Board on the My Disney Experience mobile app. The next available time will be listed and if it works for you and your travel party, you will select it, select the Guests you'd like to experience it with, and proceed to book it. If this time does not work for you, you can either select another experience that has a time that works better or you can refresh the page/check back later for a better time. Once booked, you will have an hour window to redeem your reservation. For example, if you book a Lightning Lane reservation for 10:40 a.m., you'll actually have from 10:40 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. to redeem your reservation. 

    If you are getting close to the end of your Lightning Lane reservation window and you don't think you're going to make it, I would highly recommend modifying your reservation. To do this, click on the three horizontal lines at the bottom right-hand corner of the app and select "My Disney Genie Day." This is where you'll find any reservations for that day. Find the Lightning Lane reservation in question, select the three dots on the right, select "Modify Plan," and make your changes. If you miss it completely without modifying it beforehand, you will not be able to redeem the reservation nor will you be able to make another Lightning Lane reservation for that same attraction for that same day. However, you'll certainly be able to make another reservation for a different attraction.

    All that being said, if you are five minutes early or five minutes late, there is sometimes a grace period, but that is not guaranteed. Furthermore, if you miss the reservation due to circumstances beyond your control, you may be able to talk to the Cast Member outside of the attraction or a member of the Guest Experience Team to explain the situation. Please keep in mind that it is not guaranteed that they'll be able to assist, but it never hurts to ask (politely, of course). Long story short, it's best to modify your reservation before it expires if you think you're not going to make it!

    Another important thing to note is that if you decide to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane for one of the most popular rides at the resort, you will be given choices of times that work best for you (subject to availability). These are separate purchases from your Disney Genie+ purchase. If you miss an Individual Lightning Lane, you will not be able to reschedule it nor will you be able to receive a refund. So just ensure you're carefully selecting a time that works for you!
