    When can we book attractions at theme parks? How far in advance?

    Hi Kristy,

    Thank you so much for visiting planDisney with your question. I am happy to help you think about planning the attractions for your Disney visit!

    In order to make selections for attractions at Walt Disney World resort theme parks, you will need to use Disney Genie+ to make Lightening Lane selections. You will also have the opportunity to purchase and select specific attractions separately using Individual Lightening Lanes, whether you have chosen to purchase Disney Genie+ Service or not. The webpage that I linked earlier in this paragraph has wonderful step-by-step instructions on how to do each, as well as lists of attractions covered by Disney Genie+ Service and Individual Lightening Lanes in each theme park. Be sure to click the links embedded on that page to read more about these.

    For both Disney Genie+ Service Lightening Lane and Individual Lightening Lane selections, you will make your selections on the day of your theme park visit. You need to be sure that you have both a theme park ticket as well as a park reservation for the day that you are planning to visit. Then, on the day of your visit, you can purchase Disney Genie+ Service as early as 12:01 a.m. Unless you are typically up that late, I have not found the need to stay up to purchase Disney Genie+ Service. I tend to wake up early, brew a cup of coffee, and enjoy it on my resort room balcony while purchasing Disney Genie+ Service for the day.

    At 7:00 a.m. on the day of your theme park visit, if you have purchased Disney Genie+ Service, you can make your first Lightening Lane attraction selection for the day. Also at 7:00 a.m., Disney Resort Hotel guests, as well as guests of Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels and Shades of Green Resort can make their first Individual Lightening Lane purchase for the day. Those guests not staying at a Disney Resort Hotel or the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels or Shades of Green Resort will need to wait until normal theme park opening hours to do so.
