In the Boneyard at Animal Kingdom, is it sand? gravel? mulch? that the kids can dig in? Thanks!

    Hiya Angela!

Thank you so much for stopping by!  Fantastic question--that I just so happen to know the answer to!  My kids loved spending time in The Boneyard at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park when they were little.  Even my sensory guy that hated sand loved The Boneyard!.  It was so fabulous for him, he loved to dig in it, squish it through his little hands, and bonus--he NEVER GOT 'sandy!'  We'd visit two or three times just so he could get his 'sand' play time in without getting 'dirty.'  So, naturally I had to ask about this magical substance on one of our vacations years ago!

The fill that is used is called Texas Grit--it's actually an aquarium gravel, so it's very small & fine.  Not sticky or dusty like a traditional sandbox.  That being said, you can't build sandcastles with it, but it is a TON of fun to play with and dig in!

    Have a magical vacation!
