Welcome to planDisney, Kimberly!
I'm so glad you stopped by with this question as my family and I just returned from a stay at
Disney's Old Key West Resort. The laid back island vibe of this property was exactly what we needed to rest and unwind and I hope you love your stay as we did. With such a convenient location next to Disney Springs, this resort is also a great choice for any foodies or fashionistas in your family!
Kimberly, you are correct that currently, as part of the
phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort, the
friendship boat that typically connects Disney's Old Key West Resort to Disney Springs is not available. A reopening date for remaining water transportation has not yet been released, but I will be crossing my fingers that you can cruise down the river by December. I would suggest keeping a close eye on
this page that lists available boat transportation as well as the
Disney Parks Blog. I would also encourage you to stop back here at planDisney with your question closer to your trip.
While my family and I were not able to utilize the water transportation, it might be helpful to know that you CAN easily
catch a bus to Disney Springs from any of the bus stops at Disney's Old Key West Resort. While Disney Springs is home to some of my favorite restaurants, don't forget about
Olivia's Cafe, conveniently found across from the Hospitality House at Disney's Old Key West Resort. This spot is a tucked away hidden gem with fried chicken that won't disappoint!
Kimberly, I hope this helps as you are looking ahead to your upcoming trip.
Wishing you a vacation full of Magical moments,
Lauren
