Does the boat dock right at Castaway Cave so you can walk? Can you take a stroller?

    Ahoy, Darlene!

Planning a Disney cruise that includes a stop at Castaway Cay? Well, my first reaction is "Hooray!" One of the best things about a Disney Cruise Line vacation is that so much is already included with your reservation. I'm talking food, entertainment, activities, and in your case, Disney's own private island, Castaway Cay!

One of the main things I adore about Disney Cruise Line is Castaway Cay. After cruising on another line that shall not be named, I realized that not all cruise lines dock directly at their ports but often rely on ferry service. I don't know about you, but when I get to a destination, I am ready to BE there! Especially when our Disney ship pulls in to Castaway Cay and we see so much of this beautiful island awaiting us!

Yes, you are absolutely able to walk to the island directly from the ship. Bonus: Castaway Cay also has a tram system with several stops that make accessing all areas of the island a breeze. For example, the adults only beach, Serenity Bay is a bit of a hike from the ship, so you may prefer to access that beach via tram.

As for strollers, you can bring them ashore to save those little ones extra steps. There are plenty of paved pathways throughout Castaway Cay, so exploring the island with a stroller is easy. I find an umbrella stroller works best on a Disney cruise because it's not too big and can be easily stowed under the stateroom bed. Each ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet does have a limited number of three wheeled jogging strollers available. They can be checked out at Guest Services with a required deposit that will be refunded when the stroller is returned at the end of your sailing.

My colleague Angie has some great suggestions of things to do on Castaway Cay. In addition, I would recommend the Castaway Cay Getaway Package as an awesome 3-in-1 combo of snorkel gear, float, and bike rental. My family really enjoyed the diversity of these activities and how they let us both explore the island and also relax. Now that's my idea of the perfect day in paradise!
