Well ahoy there David and welcome to planDisney!
It seems like you're just as much of a fan of travelling on water as I am, whether it's out on the open seas or along the waterways that connect the
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. There's just something really nice about taking a leisurely boat ride, especially on board one of the launches out on Bay Lake or the Seven Seas Lagoon that make you feel really close to the surface of the water.
We were recently at
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds this week and sadly, the Blue Flag Launch that previously served the route between there and
Disney's Contemporary Resort is still currently not in service. Now as with anything at Walt Disney World Resort including
complimentary transportation, offerings are subject to availability and may change without prior notice so it's always worth checking to see when and whether they become available again. I took it upon myself to ask the friendly Cast Members at three separate locations - at the
Boat Nook Marina, the
Canoe Rentals by the Campgrounds as well as the
folks captaining the launches themselves to see whether any had even a bit of nautical knowledge they could lend about the return of this beloved boat route. Unfortunately, the Cast Members at each spot indicated that they had no way of knowing for sure whether it would return nor when - but they also mentioned that references and signage pertaining to the Blue Flag Launch have been removed.
Like any good sailor I'm sure we'll be keeping our eyes on the horizon and ears to the wind should anything change before your next visit; there's really nothing like combining a
Horseback Riding adventure with a filling meal at
Whispering Canyon Cafe before having a nice easy ride back to your room at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Like Pocahontas said: "the water's always changing, always flowing" and only time will tell whether we'll see folks back on this route in the future! If you hear anything, please come on back to planDisney to
let me know and even ask me any more questions you might have before your next trip!
Here's to your future aquatic adventures out on the water!
