Because the Boardwalk (not the resort) is open so late, sometimes until 2am, how can we use Disney Resort Transportation between there and a hotel, like encouraged, if we are staying that late? Don't most types of transportation close down with the parks?

Hello Erica and thanks for bringing such a great question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Disney's BoardWalk area does indeed provide adult Guests over the age of 21 with some rather exciting late night entertainment in great venues like the Atlantic Dance Hall or my personal favourite, Jellyrolls.  After enjoying a fun evening at Jellyrolls my husband and I have ordered a taxi cab back to our Resort hotel with a little assistance from Bell Services at Disney's BoardWalk Inn.
As you rightly say, the complimentary Walt Disney World Bus Service generally runs from 1 hour before Theme Park opening to up to 1 hour after Theme Park closing times, however the bus service does operate from Downtown Disney to Resorts until 2am.
    Have a great Disney day.
