How do you get a boarding group for the new Star Wars?

Bright Suns, Laurrel! It's great to see you here today at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. With your trip to Batuu coming up in just a few days it's a great time to get to know the boarding group system for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the newest and most popular attraction at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. It doesn't have a conventional standby or FastPass+ line at the moment and is operating using a virtual queue process, so let's chat about what you should do if you want to be among the brave people to take on the First Order.

My number one tip for increasing your chances of success for joining a boarding group for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is to arrive early. Boarding groups are distributed as soon as Disney's Hollywood Studios opens, and you need to be inside the Theme Park already in order to join, so it helps to be there 30 to 45 minutes before the official opening time so you can be one of the first people inside. Once the boarding groups go live you can join one using the My Disney Experience app. Open up your app and tap on the "Find Out More" button underneath the picture of the AT-ATs on the homepage and then you'll be given the option to join a boarding group. When you've done that, you'll receive a group number and an approximate time of day that you'll be able to ride. At that point, you're free to enjoy the other attractions at the Theme Park or you can even leave and go somewhere else without losing your place in the virtual queue. You'll receive a notification through the My Disney Experience app when your boarding group has been called and the app will also display a time by which you need to return and scan your ticket or MagicBand at the entrance of the attraction. The boarding group system is separate from your FastPass+ selections, so you can still enjoy those while also waiting in the virtual queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

I hope this answers your question, Laurrel, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation!
