If you board at 12:15 for a 16:45 departure, should you bring a lunch or will the restaurants be open? Are the pools open during this time?

Ahoy, sailor Lindsey, and welcome to planDisney. I know the excitement of sailing with Captains Mickey and Minnie starts the minute you book your Disney Cruise Line stateroom but that is just the beginning.

You will receive a royal welcome as you board your ship to sail the seven seas. A crew member will announce your family and then offer you information on what to do and where to eat. Usually, there is one table service restaurant available as well as another restaurant with a buffet open while you are at port so there is no need to bring your own food. I recommend you eat a light breakfast so you can take advantage of the delicious food aboard the ship. Don't believe me, just ask the dishes.

Also, the pools and water slides (AquaDuck or AquaMouse) will be open for your enjoyment as well as the Senses Spa & Salon for you to tour around. I cannot not recommend enough the Rainforest Room Pass for the length of your journey especially if you are on a cruise longer than four days.

No onboard shopping is available until you leave port so I suggest you pack a small bag to take with you with essentials like a bathing suit and sunscreen until your stateroom is ready and your luggage delivered.

planDisney Pro Tip: You can use the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App to see restaurant menus for all meals served at table service restaurants but one meal is the best of all in my opinion: Palo Brunch (18+ years and older). Try to get a reservation prior to boarding when your Port Adventures and Onboard Activities window opens. If you are unable to make a reservation then keep checking the Disney Cruise Line website as Guest plans change and a spot may open up for you. If you have not secured one by embarkation then open your Disney Cruise Line Navigator App when you get on board and look for the Palo reservation location. You may also ask a crew member. Once there register everyone in your party if there is a spot available. If not then ask to be placed on a waiting list. Palo Brunch is offered during your Day at Sea so it should not interfere with Port Adventures.

Lindsey, surprise and delight await you out in the big blue world. I know you will have an amazing voyage. Please feel free to write me back directly with any follow-up questions.

Enjoy making many Magical Memories on the high seas.
