Is the blue bayou going to be closed in January 2024? We are at 60 days before our stay and it doesn't even come up with any options even if we get on first thing at 6am. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Carol! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney.

A dining reservation at Blue Bayou Restaurant in New Orleans Square in Disneyland Park is definitely on a lot of Guests' wish lists as we head into the New Year. It's on mine for our upcoming trip! I love the immersive experience of dining in perpetual twilight inside an iconic Attraction, while boats drift by, and I adore the famous Monte Cristo. It's in my top three places to dine while at the Disneyland Resort.

While dining reservations typically become available 60 days out, that's not always the case. I have noticed that sometimes Blue Bayou Restaurant is on the slower side. Don't give up hope! Just because you aren't seeing availability yet doesn't mean it won't open up later. I'd make a reminder on my mobile device to keep checking, and as a last resort, Blue Bayou Restaurant has the option to "Join the Walk-Up List" on the Disneyland mobile app if they're open and you didn't manage to snag a reservation. Just bring up the map, switch from "Attractions" at the top to "Dining," and locate the knife and fork icon over Blue Bayou Restaurant to join. Hopefully, it'll be open and you'll be able to grab a spot long before you arrive, however!

There are some other delicious Cajun-Creole-inspired choices just in case. In New Orleans Square, you can choose Cafe Orleans for another Table Service option offering a Monte Cristo, or grab something quick at Tiana's Palace, which is a brand new location featuring delicious options and immersive theming. It's especially gorgeous at night! If you just want a beignet or two, drop by Mint Julep Bar. Everything is tastier when it is Mickey-shaped, and that's the case with these Mickey Mouse beignets for sure. They're fresh, warm, and dusted in powdered sugar, so bring the wipes for a quick cleanup. We like them for breakfast, but you can enjoy them any time of the day. In the Downtown Disney District, you also can dine at Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio. They've got some tasty drink choices and a Double Chocolate Bread Pudding that is calling my name.

There are bound to be other yummy choices waiting for us in the New Year. There might even be some Lunar New Year Celebration treats and sips available while you're visiting. Follow Disney Eats, the official blog for Disney park food news for all the updates.

    Have a magical day!
