Ahoy there, Nancy! Thanks for sailing by planDisney with your question for us. I’m thrilled to see you’ll be sailing next week. Packing for your trip must be high on your To-Do list!
Oh boy, we’ve got ourselves a “hairy” situation. Disney Cruise Line takes safety very seriously and has
strict guidelines on what Guests are allowed to bring onto the Disney ships. Unfortunately, your 1875 watts hairdryer exceeds the 1500 max watts for a 110V electrical appliance (standard in the United States). The 2000 watts apply to 220V appliances that are standard in European countries. I can see how this guideline is confusing, and I had to consult my fellow Disney Cruise Line panelist friends just to double-check.
I’m a creature of habit and I like having a few familiar items from home when I travel. While it wasn’t the same as my home hairdryer, Disney Cruise Line provides a hairdryer in each stateroom, and I found that to be sufficient. I brought along my hair flat iron (which is allowed) for styling. In your vanity drawer, you’ll also be provided a small heat-resistant mat to lay your hot items on when styling your ‘do.
Not packing along your hairdryer means you’ll have luggage space to bring back more souvenirs! Taking a peek at the sail date you provided, I believe you’ll be sailing the Dream or the Wish with a stop in
Castaway Cay, and possibly at
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. These Disney private islands have unique merchandise that can only be purchased there and not on the ships. If there’s something you would like to take home from these special places, please don’t wait ‘till it’s too late. I unfortunately made that mistake on our first cruise and I've made it a point to let others know!
I hope this information is helpful for you, Nancy. Please don’t hesitate to visit us on
planDisney again if you have more questions. Wishing you a magical sailing!
