Are both blizzard beach and typhoon lagoon going to be opened in the summer ?

Hi Deborah and thank you for visiting planDisney with your question!

I am so happy you asked about the Walt Disney World Water Parks, because they are one of my favorite things to talk about!  We have the Water Park and Sports option added to our annual passes, so you'll often find my family splashing around on the weekends and all throughout summer.

Disney's Blizzard Beach just closed for refurbishment this month with Disney's Typhoon Lagoon opening up in its place.  There has been no word on when Blizzard Beach will reopen, but I did see a mention from a non-Disney source that they will alternate being open every 6 months.  Prior to 2020, both water parks were open at the same time during the busier (and hotter!) months of the year, but they haven't since then.  I do hope that they will return to being open at the same time during the summer.  It sure is nice having a variety to choose from on our visits and they both offer a unique experience.

If Typhoon Lagoon is your only option this summer, don't fret!  It's my favorite of the two water parks.  The Surf Pool is the main attraction there and is not to be missed.  If you're a strong swimmer, head on out and enjoy those waves!  If you prefer a tamer experience, stay in the shallow end, but be warned!  You can still get knocked down even if you're in knee-deep water.

My personal favorite attraction is Miss Adventure Falls.  This is a family ride, so grab your mates and board your raft for this attraction.  Need a little break?  Grab a tube and slip into Castaway Creek, the lazy river, and take it all around the park.  There are various entry and exit points, so I also like to use the creek as my mode of transportation if I'm trying to get from one side of the park to the other.

If you plan on multiple water park days, I definitely recommend purchasing the refillable drink cups.  These are only refillable at the water parks and I'm sure you will work up a thirst after riding all of those slides.  After the initial purchase, reactivation for additional days is discounted.

After a long day of water fun, I always pick up an order of mini donuts with a side of chocolate sauce.  They are warm, sweet, delicious and the perfect way to end our day.  You can find these mini donuts at either location near the front of the park.

Please stop back by if you have any additional vacation planning questions.

    Have a magical day!
