Are both blizzard beach and typhoon lagoon open at the same time or is it generally one or the other?

Surfs up, Miriam! Welcome to planDisney!

There are so many amazing ways to have fun during a visit to Walt Disney World, and two of my personal favorites are Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Parks. Whether you’re looking to splash down thrilling water slides or relax by the wave pool, these parks offer something for everyone.

To answer your question, while both water parks were historically open simultaneously, they’ve alternated their availability in recent years. This rotation allows for maintenance and enhancements to keep each park’s attractions and experiences in top shape for future Guests. For example, in 2024, Blizzard Beach welcomed Guests during the fall and winter, then closed in early spring for Typhoon Lagoon to open and take the spotlight for the warmer months. Based on this trend, Typhoon Lagoon will likely be open during your June visit, but park availability is always subject to change, so I recommend keeping an eye on the Walt Disney World Water Parks page for updates.

Exciting news for 2025! Guests staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel will receive complimentary admission to the available water park on their check-in day. This is an incredible bonus that I’m sure many Guests will be eager to take advantage of. I know I’d be tempted to adjust my plans to enjoy an extra splash-filled day!

If Typhoon Lagoon is open during your visit, be sure to experience the massive surf waves in the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool and take a relaxing ride along Castaway Creek. When hunger strikes, I recommend grabbing some island-inspired bites at Leaning Palms and a specialty cocktail from Let’s Go Slurpin’. For an extra touch of comfort and luxury, consider reserving a Beachcomber Shack cabana. These private spaces provide shade, privacy, and a perfect relaxing spot between rides and slides.

I hope this helps answer your question, Miriam! If you have more planning needs, please feel free to give me some fin and send another question my way.
