Hi there, Sarah!
Thanks for bringing your question from all the way across The Pond to us here at planDisney! I love that you're planning to go 'beyond the reef' of Walt Disney World Resort theme parks during your magical vacation and dip your toes in the waters of Walt Disney World's water parks. I recently returned from a 'once-in-a-lifetime' vacation to
Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, and for the foreseeable future, a float along Castaway Creek at
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will be as close as I can get to
Waikolohe Stream.
It appears that you have done your research and are aware that in recent years Walt Disney World's water parks have opened on a rotating basis. If past trends hold true, it seems that
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park (which closed on March 17) will not reopen until sometime in November. Of course, this information is speculative and based solely on previously observed dates, but there have been trends in years past. My planDisney pal
Jason helpful compiled the following information:
- November 13, 2022 - Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon closed & Disney's Blizzard Beach opened
- March 19, 2023 - Disney's Blizzard Beach closed & Disney's Typhoon Lagoon opened
- November 6, 2023 - Disney's Typhoon Lagoon & Disney's Blizzard Beach opened
While this might not be what you were hoping to hear, I believe you will still find plenty of ways to enjoy Typhoon Lagoon. Aside from the previously mentioned lazy river, I also love to relax with a bite from
Leaning Palms in one hand and a frozen treat from
Let's Go Slurpin' in the other. If you're hoping for a more active day, the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, Crush 'n' Gusher, and Miss Adventure Falls will definitely provide no shortage of thrills.
I hope this was helpful, Sarah, and that you have a wonderful vacation filled with magical memories and your 'perfect Disney day', whatever that may hold. If you have any additional questions as you plan, feel free to stop back by.
I'm always happy to help!
Thinking happy thoughts,
Lizzie
