Well hey there Bob, it's great to see you back here at planDisney! We're so glad to have folks like you come back time and time again to glean some of our first-hand knowledge, tips and tricks ahead of your next visit.
I love spending time in and around Walt Disney World Resort on what I call alternative adventures that may not necessarily require Theme Park admission; my husband and I love taking advantage of both paid and
complimentary recreation activities as a nice break from the Theme Parks. I'm so glad that you asked this question because we found ourselves in a similar situation this week; we had originally planned on a round of Miniature Golf after a slightly chilly day at
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park and realized that due to the recent closure, buses would instead be running to
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon.
Today we confirmed that there is currently no complimentary bus nor service provided through Disney Transportation that would be able to take us to get our holiday-themed miniature golfing game on. Instead, like any good explorer I decided to take it upon myself to determine whether I should take one of the following courses of action:
- The easiest yet perhaps most costly method by far is by using your own vehicle, requesting a ride through a mobile app or utilizing Minnie Van service. (This would be the quickest and most direct route.)
- If you don't mind a bit of a sidewalk trek, I've personally completed the journey from a nearby Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. I had previously read that Cast Members may automatically suggest that taking the complimentary Walt Disney World bus service to Disney's Coronado Springs Resort and setting off from there is the only option, but after personally attempting this I have to stress that the bus does a full circuit of the expansive resort with numerous stops and there is limited shade for the sidewalks along the main roadway. Due to this, it took about 15 - 20 minutes of brisk walking to get there.
- I personally think the trek may be superior from Disney's All-Star Sports Resort; we experienced more shade and even had an opportunity for a pit stop to hydrate, use the restrooms and perhaps purchase frozen treat along the journey. This route shaved several minutes off the total time it took to get there.
Note that roadways and pedestrian access is subject to change without prior notice, so it may be a good idea to have
Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf ready as a backup option just in case. I also recommend keeping an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for any official reopening news for the time being. In the meantime Bob, you're always welcome here at planDisney and
let me know if you have any more questions - I'm always happy to help answer them!
I bid you a safe trek out to Winter Summerland; be sure to say hello to Santa for me!
