I am a bit lost with the D Dining Plan. We want 1-2 character meals but other than that we don't want to plan our park visits around where we will be dining. Is the DDP a good option for us? We have 2 down days on our plan and want flexibility.

    Hi Kari -

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I'm not sure how long your vacation is for, but the Disney Dining Plan can definitely be a great option to save money. Regardless of whether or not you get the dining plan, you'll still want to make Advance Dining Reservations for many of your table service meals. Otherwise, it can be difficult to get a spot at the time and place that you prefer.

There are lots of restaurants that participate in the Disney Dining Plan outside of the parks - in Downtown Disney and at the Disney resorts. I think the key question for your family is whether of not you'll use all of the table service allocations (you get one per person per day on the standard plan). If you think you'll mostly have quick service meals (in addition to the 1-2 character meals), then the standard plan may not be a great option. I'd recommend that you figure out what types of meals you are likely to have and then decide from there.

I hope that helps you make a decision! Enjoy your vacation!
