Hello, I am a bit confused there will be 4 adults a 3yr old and a 18 month baby when i booked my dining it made me book a table for 6 even though the baby wont be eating the policy says there will be an 18% service charge is this correct

    Hi Wayne!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I do understand that there are many rules to abide by at Walt Disney World, and this can be confusing at times.  It is correct that an 18% gratuity will be automatically applied to dining reservations for parties of 6 or more.  This is a standard charge, regardless of the ages of your group.  If there are 6 or more Guests at your table, the 18% gratuity will be added to your cheque at the end of your meal and this also applies to Guests using the Disney Dining Plan.  The reason babies have to be included in the reservation is to not only adhere to safety regulations, but also to ensure that you are provided with a table that can comfortably accommodate every Guest, including your baby who may or not need a high chair (which the restaurant will provide), and ensure there is enough room for the serving staff too. it is worth noting that strollers are not usually allowed in Table-Service restaurants.

You are obviously well-ahead with your planning, and know that all dining reservations can be made up to 180 days ahead of your visit, either online or by using your My Disney Experience account.  Have you made any reservations for character dining?  These are so much fun, and give you plenty of time with the characters without having to queue in the theme parks, which is great news when you have young children!  Also, please take advantage of the complimentary Baby Care Centers located in all four theme parks.  These will offer somewhere to change and/or feed your baby in a lovely calm setting, offering a little respite from the parks and the heat if you need it.

Please come back and visit us if you have any further questions.  We will be happy to help you plan your magical holiday to Walt Disney World.  Keep your eye on the Disney Parks Blog for all the latest news and updates on any events that may be happening during your stay.
