Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is announced to be back as of May 3rd! Woo-hoo! Will it be on Virtual Queue, or will we line up the classic way? (Or Lightning Lane Multi Pass for that matter?)

How are ya, Erik, and welcome back to planDisney!

My friend, the only person who's even close to being as excited as I am about the reopening of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, is my girl Tammy. When the announcement dropped, both of our phones lit up like Christmas trees with people rushing to tell us. Truth be told, the one thing missing from this announcement was how the queue will operate!

While I can't be 100% sure on the plan, based on my experience with ride refurbishments, I don't think they'll use a virtual queue. That seems to be a process that's geared more towards totally new attractions. My educated guess is that they'll probably utilize the old standby queue and Lightning Lane Multi Pass options as they did before. If you plan to be there on reopening day, pack your patience and be prepared for anything, as this is a very popular attraction. I would be up at the crack of dawn, stretching and preparing to move at the speed of light to rope drop my favorite runaway train.

Erik, best of luck as you prepare to welcome back the wildest ride in the wilderness. If you have any other questions, come back for another chat. See you in the wild west!

    Happy planning!
