Howdy, Leslie! For your safety, while reading this answer, if you are wearin’ hats or glasses, best remove ’em...’cause this here’s the wildest answer in the wilderness!
At this time, no announcement has been made for a refurbishment of
Big Thunder Mountain at
Magic Kingdom Park and the calendar on its page shows hours throughout July. While anything can happen and it can never be guaranteed that an attraction will be available when you're at the resort, lengthy refurbishments are typically announced pretty far in advance and would have red, bolded text on the attraction's page clearly announcing an imminent closure. So be sure to remain seated with your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the train because you'll likely be able to ride it this July!
And while Big Thunder Mountain may be the wildest ride in this section of the park, it'll have some pretty wonderful company soon! Its next-door neighbor,
Tiana's Bayou Adventure,
will open on June 28, 2024, so make sure you go on down the bayou before or after your runaway train ride.
Disney Parks on YouTube recently uploaded a POV of the ride, so if you don't mind spoilers, take a gander. As for me, I'm going to hold out until I get to experience it in person in July. I cannot wait!
And Leslie, this section of the park may not be done with its transformations. Stay tuned to
Disney Parks Blog as
Walt Disney Imagineers teased there may be more stories told
Beyond Big Thunder Mountain. Even though we don't have clear details or a timeline for
that possible project, we
do know that
Country Bear Musical Jamboree should be opening up this summer at some point and we just got
some more details to whet our appetites!
Enjoy your summer visit to the resort. If you have any other questions,
I'm happy to answer them!
Keep your eye on the goat,
Matt
