Who is Big Murggie or where did the name for Big Murggie's Den come from?

    Hello, Jeff!

Big Murggie's Den was named in honor of a legendary fish who has been eluding capture for decades!

Cast Member Richard, on staff at the front desk of Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, explained that folks have been trying to catch Big Murggie since the 1940's. His home is Broad Creek and, while they spot him once in awhile, and some lucky fishermen (and women) may get a nibble from time to time, he's just never been caught.

For such a big fish, with such a long history of evasion, Imagineers decided that this HHI legend deserves naming rights to the comfortable den off the lobby of Disney's HHI Resort. A great place to relax, watch TV or play pool, I think that Big Murggie would enjoy himself quite well in the Den, especially if some fish tales were being told at the time...;-)
