MagicBand+ on Friends; Main Street; pairing

    I got the “Beyond Amazing” Spider-Man magic band in 2023. I have yet to activate it or even take it out of the box. I have a Disney trip planned for January 2025. Will my Spider-Man Magic band be functional by then?

    Thanks for swinging by with a question for us. I'm no superhero, but I'm always happy to help a guest in need!

    My spidey senses tell me that you're referring to this limited edition Spider-Man 60th Anniversary MagicBand. It's sold out everywhere as far as I can tell, so you're lucky to have secured it for your collection. This is a MagicBand 2 and not the latest generation MagicBand+, but it should still have all the functionality guests have come to know and love. Once linked to your My Disney Experience Account, you'll be able to unlock your Disney Resorts Collection hotel room, enter the parks, access Lightning Lane entrances with the purchase of Disney Genie+ Service, link Disney PhotoPass pictures, and charge purchases in the parks to your resort room. I love using this hands-free technology every time I visit!

    MagicBands don't need to be charged like the newer MagicBand+, and I've found many of my older bands from years past are still active and functioning properly. While you won't enjoy the interactive lights and haptic vibrations that pair with nighttime spectaculars, your MagicBand 2 will still be a valuable tool to help you maximize the magic during your trip.

    I recently visited with a friend who had some trouble with a newly purchased MagicBand+. I believe it still worked to enter the parks and his resort room, but his Disney PhotoPass attraction photos weren't automatically linked and his band never seemed to light up the way the rest of our group's bands did. He spoke with a Cast Member who discovered there was something awry (perhaps the work of a classic comic villain) and he was given a voucher for a new MagicBand+. I don't expect you to have any issues, but if something doesn't seem to be working visit a Guest Relations Cast Member for assistance. I'm sure they'll be able to help or offer an alternate solution.
