Hey, howdy, hey Jennifer, and welcome to planDisney.
We had this exact concern as both of my kids were exclusively fed by pumped breast milk. Driving to Orlando from Atlanta meant we had to keep milk cool on the way down and then store it in the Resort hotel mini-fridge. Yep, mini-ridge not beverage cooler. Ideally, breast milk can be refrigerated at 39-40 degrees Fahrenheit for up to 4 days. Beverage coolers are 41 degrees Fahrenheit or greater. We have had some that didn't cool our bottled water. If you feel comfortable with the beverage cooler temperature even at the lowest setting for a short period then you are "all set." If not then I have some suggestions below.
In general, if you need to store breast milk at a Disney Collections Resort hotel then:
- Request a mini-fridge. These are limited and a request can be made by contacting Disney or through your travel agent. Once you arrive you should visit the front desk to verify.
- Use the beverage cooler but pack ice in sealed plastic containers or bags around your liquid gold to keep temperatures low.
- Bring a small cooler and fill it with ice.
- Resort Bell Services has large refrigerators to store guest items.
- Reserve a room with an actual refrigerator such as the Suites at Disney's Art of Animation Resort and Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort (not all rooms have refrigerators).
Your little one needs all the nourishment they can get and you will also need a place to take care of them in the theme parks. Be sure to visit the
Baby Care Centers for a quiet escape to feed, change, or just take a break. To keep your milk on ice, you can visit any
counter/Quick-Service dining locations for free cups of ice and store the milk and ice in a thermal tote.
Jennifer, I hope this information helps you keep a cool supply at the ready for your little Mouseketeer. Please feel free to
write me back directly for other Disney vacation planning tips.
Enjoy making many Magical Memories.
