Hi Patricia ~
Your trip will be here before you know it and I'm happy to see you planning ahead! That is especially important when traveling with little ones.
This is truly a matter of personal preference and I think there are plus and minuses to both. Because every child is different, I would try testing a backpack harness and a wrist leash to see which one works best for your particular child and which one they will tolerate more when they are walking. Some kids don't want anything to do with either and other kids don't mind them. Test them closer to your trip because as we all know, kids and what they want can change every day. Better to know before you go.
I think that the backpack harness works well because it doesn't get in the way of your child's ability to explore with their hands. You may want to think of the harness type without the backpack so that it isn't too hot on their back and you don't have to remove it when you put them back in their stroller. The wrist type leashes are usually shorter which helps keep little ones closer to their parents and avoids possibly tripping other Guests. I worried that the kids may pull too hard and hurt their arms or shoulders.
It is always important to give your little ones a break from their strollers. Whichever one you decide on, I would recommend finding an area that isn't very crowded to let them walk around. There are out of the way places in the parks (especially along the perimeters) and at the resorts to do that. It gets really congested in some areas of the parks and I worried about Guests not seeing them or them tripping Guests.
Be sure to take advantage of the
Baby Care Centers located in all of the theme parks.
