Is there a better way to get to Epcot from the Contemporary Hotel (and vice versa)besides using the monorail? The transfer switch is a bit confusing at times. At the end of the night, the monorail gets so busy, and sometimes I have issues walking.

Greetings Catherine and welcome back to planDisney!

Disney’s Contemporary Resort is classic Walt Disney World! When I close my eyes and picture my happy place in the 1970’s, the Contemporary always has a place in my mind! As a kid, and as a grandparent now, I still marvel at the site of the Walt Disney World Monorail System that operates inside the Contemporary Resort-connecting Guests to the Magic Kingdom, the Transportation and Ticket Center and two other amazing Deluxe Resort hotels!

Now to answer your question, yes, there are options to get you to and from the Contemporary to EPCOT, but the Monorail System is still your best bet in my opinion.  Guests from the Contemporary wishing to head to EPCOT can take the Resort Monorail to the Transportation and Ticket Center to transfer to the EPCOT Monorail.  And reverse this course on the way back to the resort after a great adventure at EPCOT! If you have questions at the Transportation and Ticket Center, I always seem to find friendly Cast Members who will point me in the right direction!

Your other options would be ride share services like Uber or Lyft that are of course an additional cost.  The one that I would recommend if you went on that route would be the Disney Minnie Van Service, which is a rideshare powered by Lyft.  The cozy and personal service of the polka dotted beauty has become one of my favorite ways to get around the Disney bubble.  I wanted my last trip on the Minnie Van to last a bit longer because I was having such a nice conversation with the Cast Member about our love of all things Star Wars!

Catherine, one thing that I like to do to avoid some of the crowds at the end of the day is to stay longer than the crowds do! I’ll jump in line for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at the last minute, so I get one last chance to save the universe!  Then I’ll take a leisurely stroll and stop into Creations Shop to gather all of my last-minute souvenirs!  By the time I’ve finished with my shopping list, a lot of the crowds have already headed to their Disney home, and it doesn’t feel crowded to board the Monorail back to the Contemporary.  This also allows for some pretty awesome photo opportunities without having to worry about photobombers!  The beauty of EPCOT at night is spectacular!

Catherine, I know your next adventure will be a magical one!  Don’t forget to enjoy a Mickey Bar or two!
