Is it better to do some of the Tier 2 Fast Pass Rides during Early Magic Hours vs. regular standby line?

    Hi Stacy,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am delighted to help you with this question!

The answer to your question actually depends on the crowd levels in each park during your visit. Although we have used Extra Magic Hours in the past, we now just use our early morning dining reservations, Fast Pass+ and the My Disney Experience Mobile App (checking wait times) to expedite our ride experiences in the parks. Typically, we do a pre-park opening breakfast reservations at 8:00 a.m., then head to the first ride we want to experience as soon as we have finished eating. We plan our first Fast Pass+ selections back to back in the morning, then, start making an additional Fast Pass+ after lunch.

If you have not done so already, download the My Disney Experience Mobile App. With the app, you can determine wait times for rides throughout the day and you can make a fourth Fast Pass+ once you have used your first three initial Fast Pass+ selections or the time windows have expired.

Stacy, if you do plan to do Extra Magic Hours, I suggest you arrive at least an hour before the park opens and have a plan for how you will tackle the park. Pandora - The World of Avatar, is still experiencing large crowds so you would need to get there EARLY to get in the stand-by line. Whatever you do, make those Fast Pass+ selections as soon as you can (60 days in advance for Walt Disney World Resort Hotel guests, 30 days for non-resort hotel guests). Once I make our Fast Pass+ selections, I keep checking and occasionally make changes after the initial approval.

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
