Is it better to stay inside Disney?

Hi Sue!  I am not sure if you mean for races or in general, but in both cases I would say a definitive, YES!  For races, Disney host resorts are the only places that provide bus transportation to and from the packet pick-up, health and fitness expo, and races.   Having that taken care of on race day mornings is wonderful!  Traffic on those mornings can be a nightmare and an added stress that you don't need.
For other Disney vacations, the same theory is true.  Disney resorts have bus, monorail, and ferry transportation to all parks and Downtown Disney.  This will save you parking fees and valuable vacation time during your stay.  I have stayed both on and off property, and while I have always had a great time, there is definitely more "magic" when you stay at a Disney resort!
