Which is a better place to stay, Port Orleans Riverside or Cabins at Fort Wilderness? Having a difficult time deciding and this is our first time.

    Hi Mindy,

The cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground are the best choice if you would like to have a full kitchen at your disposal during your vacation.  It's also a great choice if you enjoy the great out-of-doors and wish to be close to the Magic Kingdom.

Disney's Port Orleans Resort Riverside is a better bet if you want a more traditional resort experience, with a main lobby, food court, etc.  This is a wonderfully themed resort just down the Sassagoula River from Downtown Disney.  If shopping at Downtown Disney is part of your vacation plans, then this might be the best resort for you.

Ultimately, I would make your decision based on the type of vacation you think you'll most enjoy; if you dream of staying in a southern mansion or in a rustic retreat in the Louisiana Bayou, then Riverside is the place to be.  If a secluded camping experience is more to your liking, then Fort Wilderness it is.  Check the resort photos I've linked to the resort names in the preceding paragraphs and then follow your heart based on what you see.  Honestly, you can't go wrong no matter which you choose.

May this be the first of many magical vacations you'll enjoy at Walt Disney World!
