For an October cruise, I would consider a few things.
First, the average high/low temperature is 88/78 on the Eastern and 85/76 on the Western. Now for the rainfall. The rainfall on the Eastern averages 4.7 inches while on the Western it is 7.3 inches.
Second, what kind of a vacation do you envision? Would you prefer a more relaxing pace with more days at sea? Do you plan on taking shore excursions? If so, which excursions appeal to your family the most? Which excursions fit best in to your budget since excursion costs can add up quickly?
Sometimes our family just wants an all-inclusive, relaxing vacation. Other vacations we want to see new places and experience new adventures such as swimming with dolphins.
In my experience, storms can churn up the waters on both itineraries. Although, overall I have experienced rougher seas on Eastern Caribbean cruises. However, I would ultimately choose based on which islands interest your family the most.
If this is your first cruise, you may want to have an extra day at sea to enjoy the activities that Disney Cruise Line offers. My 9 year old son loves the Oceaneer Lab!
Take a look at the
Disney Cruise Line website and look over the shore excursions. Do you dream of
swimming with stingrays?
Let me know if I can help any further!
