Is it better to get a concierge room without a dining plan to take advantage of the snacks and beverages, or a regular room with a dining plan? Are their any other advantages of staying in a concierge room, besides the food offerings?

I am afraid I have been spoiled and have had the chance to experience many of the resort concierge levels for past vacations.  Your question is excellent to ask about pairing that up with a dining plan.

When anyone asks I would definitely NOT spend money for a concierge room and also be on a dining plan.  Although the snacks during the day do not equal lunch fare you are offered good breakfast choices and hot samplings and desserts in the evening.  Basically you can graze to your hearts desire on these levels.  We often just get one Advanced Dining Reservation per day when staying on concierge and that works well for our family.  A dining plan would end up being too much or we would not end up enjoying the lounge food even though we had basically paid for that service.

The concierge rooms tend to be quiet and the lounge can serve to be a great place to share Disney stories with other families.  There is always a movie on for the kids and you will have a DVD player in your room with a full DVD library available for you to take back your choice for the kids to watch.  The best part of the concierge services is the fact that you will have two concierges on duty the entire day to help you with anything. That might include tickets, or ticket issues, parking, dining reservations, cancellations, printing of boarding passes, future reservation plans, and just about anything else that might come up.  They are there to take the stress away from your vacation so you can enjoy it to the max!
