Welcome to planDisney, Travis!
One of my family's favorite aspects of any trip to
Walt Disney World is choosing where we'll call home while visiting. There are so many options for your family of seven, so let's take a look!
We often travel with another family or with a set (or two) of grandparents, so on those occasions, we look for locations with a bit more space. First, take a look at this Frequently Asked Question regarding
traveling with a party of 5 or more to see some options.
For us, we really appreciate the extra common space, extra bathroom(s), full kitchen, and in-room laundry that's included in the
Disney Deluxe Villas. For example, we love staying in a 2-Bedroom Villa at
Disney's Old Key West Resort. Rooms here are larger than at several other resorts, and the casual yet elegant atmosphere of the property is a treat for all.
Another option is a 2-Bedroom Villa at
Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House; this includes space for up to 9 adults. There is a THIRD full bathroom that's key when everyone is getting ready for a day of park fun.
In all of these larger villas, the full kitchen lets me prep a quick breakfast, make post-park snacks, or have a family movie night after a rainy day--complete with hot popcorn and other goodies right out of the oven--or freezer. Plus, I'll throw in a couple loads of laundry each night, allowing us to travel without checked bags--and fly home with clean clothes!
We also have really loved our stays in a Treehouse Villa at
Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. These also sleep up to 9 adults, feature a full kitchen, in-room washer and dryer, and 2 full bathrooms--all nestled into the woods; it feels like a glamorous stay in the forest. In addition to the generous indoor eating areas, you'll find an outdoor deck with table and chairs plus a charcoal grill on the ground level. Your family will love it!
For a real treat, take a look at a 2 Bedroom Cabin at
Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. Sleeping 8 adults, these cabins include the kitchen, laundry, and double bathrooms of other villas, but also boast a two-sided fireplace plus a porch with your own hot tub: you may never want to leave!
Of course, you could also request two adjoining rooms in a lovely
Walt Disney World Resort Hotel; you'd be gaining that second bathroom plus have beds for everyone. To determine which one is right for you, consider which park you'll be visiting most frequently, then look at the resorts that are closest--some are even just steps away from a park entrance!
Travis, I hope you've found some more spacious options for your family's visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth. As you continue to pack more pixie dust into your plans, be sure to send additional questions our way. We love to help!
