Ahoy, Vanessa!
Thanks for sailing back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel to ask more fantastic questions! I'm so excited to hear that you and your pirate crew will be embarking on an unforgettable journey to "The Last Frontier"! My son has mobility challenges, too, so I understand the importance of planning ahead when going on vacations! I'm thrilled to share with you some Port Adventure planning ideas as well as what you can expect while visiting the different ports of call!
Disney Cruise Line makes researching Port Adventures easy and fun for those individuals who have mobility challenges! Go to the
Alaska Port Adventures page on Disney Cruise Line's website and take a look at the different drop down options. Amongst the drop down options, you'll see "Ports of Call" and "Accessibility". To see all the different Port Adventures your son can enjoy, just check the box(es) for one or multiple ports of call and/or wheelchair accessible only excursions or wheelchair transfer required excursions under the "Accessibility" drop down.
Vanessa, you're going to love how accessible each port of call is throughout your Alaskan itinerary! The
Disney Wonder docks a short walk (or roll in my son's case) from the heart of each town! The one exception to this is in Juneau where Guests typically board a shuttle into town. When we disembarked the ship in Juneau, there was a wheelchair-accessible van waiting for any families that needed it! My family and I were transported into town with no problems at all! You'll be surrounded by each port of call's culture and deeply-rooted history.
It was my honor to help you plan your upcoming WONDERful voyage to Alaska! If you can think of any more questions, please sail back and visit us again!
