Hi! My bestfriend and I are planning our 1st WDW trip in 2012 with her 14yr old and my 4 yr old. What would you consider the best time of year to go, and is there a lot for a 4yr old to do cause I want him to enjoy hiimself as much as we do.

    Hi Roxanne!

I think the best time of year to go is the first two weeks of December.  The weather will be nice and the parks are fabulous with all of the holiday decorations.  However, I realize that may be hard to do with a 14 year old in school.  Other good times to go are October, November, January, February, and Marc.  As you can see, I'm not a fan of the heat and humidity in Florida in the summer time.

Your 4 year old will have a great time at Walt Disney World and he can enjoy most of the attractions in all of the parks.  I know that may sound strange if you are only use to regional amusement parks, but it's true.  Most of the attractions at Walt Disney World were designed to be enjoyed by the entire family, young and old.  There are only a couple of attractions in each park that a 4 year old is either too short for or that might be too scary!  For example, in the Magic Kingdom, those attractions are Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain railroad, though I've met many 4 year olds who have enjoyed Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain!

Since it is your first time, I highly recommend getting the book "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal.  It's a great book for first timers with just the right amount of information without being overwhelming.  It's also a beautiful book full of color photographs.  It will give you a good idea of everything there is to do at Walt Disney World and provide some valuable tips as well!

Enjoy planning and write back if you have any more questions!
