What are the best ways to get to MK, Epcot, AK and HS from the Polynesian and approximate travel times? Also, can you tell me more about the torch lighting ceremony there? Thanks so much, love this panel!! Has been so helpful in planning 1st trip to WDW!

    Hi, Alyssa!

I just got back from a week at the Polynesian, and it was amazing.  It was almost TOO good - we hardly wanted to leave our resort!  We spend a lot time in the Magic Kingdom, so it was great for us to zip back to the resort for afternoon breaks and some pool time.

Getting around is very easy.  You can catch the monorail right at the Great Ceremonial House and you will be at the Magic Kingdom in about 15 minutes. There is also a boat that will take you there in about the same amount of time.  I find the monorail to be a bit more efficient, but we like the boat ride at nighttime just for the atmosphere.   To get to Epcot, you will want to walk over to the Transportation and Ticket Center and hop on the Epcot monorail line.  Allow a total of about 30 minutes.  Bus transportation is available to Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom with travel time about 20 - 25 minutes.  When planning your travel times, remember that you have to also factor in wait time for the next bus/monorail.

During our stay, the Torch Lighting Ceremony was at 6:00 p.m. in the lobby.  Check your Activities Schedule that you are given at check-in for times during your stay.  It is a quick and fun ceremony that is sure to entertain!  Be ready for some music, dancing, and fun!

Have a great stay at the Polynesian.  Aloha!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
