What is the best way to get to the contemporary hotel from another hotel before the shuttles start running in the morning? We have dining reservations for 7:30 and MK opens at 9 that day. Are there taxis? If so, do I need car seats for my young kids?

    Hi Kari,

Although the official word is that complimentary Disney buses don't start running until one hour before park opening, I have witnessed them in full operation long before that.  In fact, this past week I stayed at Disney's Port Orleans Resort French Quarter and buses were running to all four theme parks by 7:30 am even though several of the parks didn't open until 9 am.  Stop by the Guest Services desk at your home resort the night before your breakfast reservation to determine where you should be to catch an early morning bus if you hope to rely on Disney transportation.

That's not what I would do, however.  Instead, I would call Mears Transportation a few days before your breakfast reservation to schedule a pick-up.  We used Mears extensively during the school trip I chaperoned last week and their service was exemplary.  They will happily bring car seats for your kids if you request them.  They will be waiting for you at the front of your home resort at your pick-up time so you won't even need to request a cab that morning.  I think using Mears is the most efficient way to get to Disney's Contemporary Resort for that all-important reservation with Chef Mickey.  You can reach Mears at www.mearstransportation.com.

Wishing you and your family a truly magical vacation!
