Hi Terri! Welcome to planDisney! It's great to have you stop by!
You're down to single digits on your countdown clock to arriving at the Most Magical Place on Earth! Now is the perfect time to get all the last-minute details squared away and finalize your plans for each park day. Using
Disney Genie+ during your stay will help you maximize your time at the parks since you won't be stuck waiting in long lines throughout the day.
Let's discuss some ways to utilize Disney Genie+ on your park days. First off, you'll need to download the
My Disney Experience App to your mobile device and log in to your account. You'll need the app to make your selections while on the go throughout the day. Starting at 7 AM, you can make your first selection of the day. One big item to note is you are not able to choose the return time for the attraction you are booking. The next available return window will be the time you have to choose.
One way to use the service is to continue to make selections for the next available attraction. Let's say you made your first selection at 7 AM for Big Thunder Mountain for a 10 AM return time. Once you arrive at the park and ride this attraction, you can make your next selection. As you are scrolling through the app, you find "it's a small world" for 11:30 AM, and select this as your next choice. Again, once you finish here, you can then select your next ride and continue this process for the rest of the day. If you don't mind waiting in some standby queues, you can even fit in additional rides while you are waiting for your next arrival window to open up. This method works great at the
Magic Kingdom Park since there is a larger amount of attractions to choose from here. Some of the other parks are a bit more limited, so the return times may not be as readily available as some of the rides here.
Another plan of attack is to look for attractions that have arrival windows for later in the day. Let's say you make your first selection at 7 AM and the return window is not until 5:45 PM that evening. This happens a lot with some of the more popular attractions, such as Slinky Dog Dash and Jungle Cruise. If your goal for the day is to experience attractions that typically have long wait times, this strategy may work out better for you. Let's say you snag Slinky Dog Dash for that evening, you'll be able to make your next Disney Genie+ selection two hours after the official park opening. If the park opens at 9 AM, you can make your next selection at 11 AM. I recommend setting an alarm on your phone to remind you when to do so. At 11 AM, you then make a Lightning Lane selection for
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror for a return time of 6:30 PM. Then again, two hours later at 1 PM, you can make another Disney Genie+ selection for a different attraction. On average, Guests should expect to experience two to three attractions per day when using this service.
To recap, it really comes down to what your goal is for your park day. If you want to go with the flow and make selections for the next available arrival window, you'll need to be flexible with the attractions that you ride. If you have specific attractions that you want to experience, you are going to need to be flexible with your time.
Terri, I hope you have an amazing time next week! There is no better place to make lasting memories with your loved ones than at the Walt Disney World Resort!
See ya real soon!
