Hiya Genevieve,
Welcome to planDisney! We are so excited that you are here and that you have come to us for help with your planning questions. There are multiple wonderful ways to travel from Orlando International Airport to your Walt Disney World Resort Collection Hotel (by bus, rideshare, Minnie Van, or rental car). The magic of your vacation doesn’t have to wait to start until you are at the Theme Parks. While I personally prefer traveling via rental car, depending on your family and your trip needs, the other popular choices might suit you better.
Travel via BusFor a seamless shuttle experience from Orlando International to your resort hotel, both
Mears Connect and
Sunshine Flyer are great choices. You don’t have to worry about toll fees or gas prices, and they can get you fairly quickly to your resort hotel. Also, if you are traveling with car seats for little Mouseketeers, you would be able to use it on Mears Connect; but you wouldn’t be required to travel with one. Please visit their websites to pre-book and learn more about each service. I have not personally utilized either service, but I’ve heard great things about them overall.
Travel via RideshareAnother popular option for Guests is rideshare services such as Uber or Lyft. With rideshare, you don’t have to worry about traveling with other Guests because it will just be you and your family. Because Orlando International Airport is such a large airport, you likely won’t have to wait for long for an available vehicle. Even better, you don’t have to wait for others to depart because you will get to head to your resort hotel when it best suits your schedule.
Travel via Minnie Van ServiceDid you hear that the
Disney Minnie Van Service-Connected by Lyft is returning this summer?! While I don’t have the specific dates yet, there is a chance they will be available by your July trip. The Minnie Van Service is a fantastic way to travel around Walt Disney World Resort and to and from Orlando International Airport. Each Minnie Van can accommodate up to six Guests and six suitcases and can come equipped with up to 3 car seats. Best of all, the incredible Cast Members who provide this service really make this service a favorite among Guests.
Travel via Rental CarThe last option I would like to present is using a rental car. I almost always use this option because we love the ease of being in charge of our transportation and not having to rely on rideshare services should we need to make a quick grocery run. Renting a car from Orlando International is super easy, and you are only 30 minutes away from Walt Disney World Resort. I will note that when you park a rental car at a Walt Disney World Resort, you will have to pay for parking, so this could be an added expense you weren’t planning for.
I hope I’ve given you enough information to help you make the best choice for yourself and your family!
Happy Planning!
