When is the best times in May to Visit? When do children usually get out for summer?

Hi Melody, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I am quite familiar with travel to the Walt Disney World Resort during the month of May, as this is typically when we take our major family vacation each year. I find it is the perfect time of year; relatively low crowds, near perfect weather, and it coincides with one of my favorite events, the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival.

If you are looking for the best time to travel in the month of May, definitely the earlier the better! Attendance at the four Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks and two Water Parks tends to pick up by the weekend heading into Memorial Day. This time frame also coincides with the time that a lot of schools start closing for summer vacation. This will obviously result in longer wait times and more people in the Parks.

My personal “sweet spot” for May travel is the first two weeks of the month. If you could plan to travel at that time I expect you would quite enjoy it. Also, if there happens to be any Mothers in your travel party and you are visiting during the Mother's Day holiday, I have found it is a very special day to be in the Parks, or enjoying a nice meal at one of the signature dining restaurants on property. Be sure to book early, as many of the popular restaurants do book up fast.

Wishing you a Jolly Holiday “right as a mornin’ in May!”

    Trish
