Welcome aboard, Beth!
I'm so glad to hear that you are planning a trip to sail and visit beautiful Alaska. That is such a wonderful itinerary and it is absolutely gorgeous scenery to enjoy now. My family and I enjoyed the
Disney Cruise Alaskan voyage and we all agreed that it is definitely a different type of cruise compared to all the other Disney Cruise itineraries that we've been on around the world.
You're sailing close to the coast, but there is a part of the route that you sail out in the open sea. We sailed in July and the waters were not too bad, though there was apparent movement that you can still feel. The Captain, on occasion, might even opt to sail in the inside passage as an option, if the waters are determined to be too choppy. Their experience in navigating the waterways and passages of Alaska is pretty amazing. When we cruised through Tracy Arm, it was pretty mesmerizing to feel the Captain steer the ship through this tight passage - and even do a 360 degree turn. We were in awe, and I'm glad we were all bundled up since we stayed out on Deck 4 admiring the scenery for at least a couple of hours.
You might want to choose a mid-ship stateroom, if you think you'll be sensitive to the ship's movements. There are also over the counter products that help with preventing some motion sickness. Maybe something that you can check out to help ease any anticipated discomfort. I'm hoping that one of the scheduled itineraries works out for your calendar, Beth.
Do let us know if you have any additional questions that we can try and answer. We're always glad to help.
Have a Disney Day!
