What is the best time to visit DW when the crowds aren't quite so large.

    Hi Brian,

Thanks for writing!  While it's impossible to predict with complete accuracy which weeks will have the smallest crowds in a given year, traditionally some of the least crowded times are the following:

    • The second week of January until President's Weekend in February (except for Marathon Weekend).  We've travelled during this time period and had waits that were barely noticeable.  We almost walked onto some of the most popular attractions!  The weather was definitely cool, but we didn't mind one bit!
    • The week after Labor Day until the start of the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival (late September, early October)  We stayed over Labor Day a few years ago, and noticed that as soon as the holiday weekend was over, the parks emptied out significantly.
    • The week after Thanksgiving until the week before Christmas (This is a great time to visit if you are a "holiday junkie" like me.  The parks and resorts are decorated beautifully, and the crowd level is great.)

This year, Disney has extended it's free Dining offer into the Fall, so I expect that crowds will be a bit larger given this amazing value, but they should still be manageable.  Whichever week you chose, have a magical trip!
