Welcome back to planDisney, Zara. Thanks for stopping by once again!
It looks like
my friend Jenn gave you some pointers on the best time to visit Walt Disney World Resort during the cooler months. Well, I’m more than happy to fill you in on when I think is the best time to visit the
Happiest Place on Earth with slightly fewer crowds but still “good” weather! I say “good” in quotation marks only because the weather in Southern California is relatively mild, in comparison to the weather in Florida. Sure, there are cold and rainy days in the winter and early spring, as well as heatwaves during the summer months. But in general, even when it’s hot in the sun during the daytime, once the sun sets, there’s usually a chill in the air. I’ve lost track of how many Disneyland Resort long sleeve spirit jerseys and sweatshirts my family has bought over the years because we weren’t prepared for the cooler summer nights!
Summer is usually peak crowds since school is not in session, so let’s look ahead to autumn when children return to school. Weekdays during September and October tend to have manageable crowd sizes. This makes it more fun to enjoy the
Halloween decorations and seasonal food and beverage offerings. Don’t miss the giant Mickey pumpkin on Main Street, U.S.A. To avoid higher crowd levels, I recommend not visiting during Labor Day (September 1, 2025) and
runDisney Halloween Half Marathon weekend (September 4-7, 2025); many school districts also have Fall Break during various weeks in October so the parks may be busier.
November is also a pleasant time to visit the Disneyland Resort. By mid-November, decorations for the holidays are usually already up for Guests to enjoy. Early to mid-November tend to have lower crowds. I suggest avoiding the weekend before Veterans’ Day weekend and Thanksgiving break, as the crowd levels will be higher during that time. If you plan to visit in December to check out
Holidays at the Disneyland Resort, your best bet is in early to mid-December before schools take their winter break.
How about a visit in the springtime, which is a very pleasant time in terms of weather? As long as you avoid federal and religious holidays, such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, and Easter/Spring Break, the crowd levels shouldn’t be too bad for you to navigate and enjoy the parks.
Regardless of which season you choose to visit, you are bound to have a magical time at the Happiest Place on Earth. If you have more questions, please feel free to stop by
planDisney again.
Sending you pixie dust,
Kiki
