When would be the best time to do a Disney interaction meal, breakfast, lunch or dinner?

    Hi Ashley:

My family loves to enjoy character meals at Disney World where we can enjoy delicious food and plenty of character interaction.  My family's favorite character meal is Chef Mickey's where we enjoy an all-you-can-enjoy buffet with Mickey and friends.

The best time for a character meal depends on your family and interests.  The following tips work for my family.  Hopefully this will give you guidance on how to approach the meals for your family.  For us, breakfast is the most important meal to concentrate on the exact time. We like to schedule character breakfasts for about an hour and a half prior to Park opening.  This give us plenty of time to enjoy breakfast with the characters, grab character pictures and autographs, and then head to the Parks for the day.  For character dinners, we schedule them for around 6:00 pm if we can because that is when my young children generally eat.  My family tends to skip character lunches as we'd rather be spending time in the Parks riding attractions.  However, a number of families enjoy a relaxing character lunch after a morning enjoying the Parks.

Do not worry if you are scheduled for a late seating at a character meal.  I've eaten in or close to the "last seating" slot a number of times at Walt Disney World restaurants and have always been provided top-notch food and service and plenty of character interaction time. It could be that late or "off hour" character meal could theoretically end up with more character interaction time if the restaurant is not as crowded and the characters have a few extra moments to spend at each table.

For my family, one to two character meals per vacation seem to do the trick.  Remember, you can make advance dining reservations up to 180 days in advance.

    Enjoy your vacation.
