Ahoy, Denise! Thanks for coming to planDisney and giving me a chance to reminisce over
Disney Cruise Line vacations that I am not allowed to call my "favorites" (only because my kids like to think there is no way I had as much fun without them). You know, we all have the stories we tell ourselves.
The quick answer to your question is that any Disney Cruise Line ship is the best one for an adults-only vacation. My husband and I sailed with two other couples on the Disney Wonder and had the best time. It was our first Disney Cruise without kids and a completely different experience. My planDisney friends cruised on the Disney Dream. My youngest told me he may never forgive me for going without him. He got over it, and I have core memories that make me smile deep in my soul. Both ships were perfect!
When – or I guess for my kids, I should say –
If I were to go on another adult-only vacation at sea, I think I would pick the
Disney Treasure. Although I have to wait until the summer for first-hand experience with this ship, I have three compelling reasons already: the Skipper Society, Hyperspace Lounge and the
Haunted Mansion Parlor. Each of the ships has a variety of lounges with unique theming and great atmospheres, but the combination of these three lounges sounds practically perfect in every way.
Disney Cruises offers
rotational dining, in which guests experience each main dining room. For just adults, I recommend requesting second seating. This is a later dining time, which is a bit more relaxed.
You can also enjoy dinner at the
adult-exclusive restaurants, or on most Days at Sea, brunch is offered. These require an additional fee but are worth every penny. With their popularity, there may be restrictions on the number of dining experiences you can book. If you want Palo or Palo Steakhouse for brunch, these sell out quite quickly. Make sure you note
the day you can start reserving dining.
Did you know you can bring alcohol on board with you?
Each Guest (21 and older) is permitted to bring up to two bottles of unopened wine or champagne (up to 750 ml each) or six beers (up to 12 ounces each) on board. I was surprised when I learned this. I was also surprised to find drinks on the ships were comparable in price –and sometimes less than– local restaurants. There are a few special deals for alcohol on board. You can order a wine package for a selection of wines served with your dinner in the main dining rooms. A
special beer mug and Drink of the Day glass may also be available to purchase. With these, you pay the same price for the beverage, but the cup is larger.
I have so much I'd love to tell you about Disney Cruises being perfect for adults. Be sure to look into mixology and beverage-tasting classes. I've done one for cocktails and one for tequila. It's the best education on vacation. The adult lounges, pool, spa... there's so much to do!
