Hi, there!
Welcome to planDisney, Debby. I'm so happy you stopped by and even happier to hear you'll be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort in just a few weeks! There's no place I'd rather be, that's for sure.
I love this question. I'm not sure why, but my family ALWAYS hops on a Doom Buggy to socialize with grim grinning ghosts on
Haunted Mansion before heading to
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad for the wildest ride in the wilderness! I suppose it's probably because we start our pixie-dusted mornings in Fantasyland before heading towards Liberty Square and Frontierland. I do love an efficient touring plan!
I think the best route to take to get from Haunted Mansion to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is to start by heading southeast toward Liberty Square. Walk as closely as you can along Rivers of America, which means you should take the less-traveled boardwalk path on your right. This boardwalk path is usually not very crowded, and it offers pretty views of Tom Sawyer Island! When the boardwalk ends, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be on your right, and Splash Mountain will be on your left. The walk from Haunted Mansion should only take you about 5 minutes!
Be sure to download the
My Disney Experience mobile app before your arrival. It's magic at your fingertips! I love that I can use this app to view current wait times, manage my reservations, and place
mobile food and beverage orders. Another cool feature of the My Disney Experience mobile app is the "Get Directions" feature. With this tool, you can get directions from one destination to another at the Walt Disney World Resort! To see the best walking path from Haunted Mansion to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, tap on the map icon on the app home screen. Select "Attractions" from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen. Tap on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and then select "Get Directions." Enter "Haunted Mansion" in the "From" box and then tap on "See Walking Directions." Isn't that cool?
I hope that was helpful, Debby. Please let us know if you have any other questions about your Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
