What are the best rides and entertainment available at each park from may 24-31 for a family with a 6 and 8 year old? We plan to go to Epcot, animal kingdom, and magic kingdom.

    Hiya Katie!

Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney with your question. I see your magical vacation is just around the corner—how exciting!

As a mom of a 7-year-old and a 3-year-old, I can tell you firsthand that Disney World truly has something for everyone. From fun adventures to the character meet and greets, there’s pixie dust waiting around every corner. So, let’s jump into your question!

Let’s start with Disney’s Animal Kingdom—my family's wild favorite! Right in front of the Tree of Life, you'll find the Wilderness Explorers Club, where your little Mouseketeers can collect badges and learn all about animals and nature, just like Russell from Up. It’s educational and entertaining—double win! We also adore Kilimanjaro Safaris (try going early in the morning or right before park closing when the animals are most active) and Festival of the Lion King—it’s a Broadway-style show full of color, music, and magic that keeps little ones fully engaged. My oldest is a big fan of Expedition Everest, and if your kiddos aren’t quite ready for the Yeti, don’t forget to ask for a Rider Switch so both grown-ups get a turn.

Next up, EPCOT! Our go-tos are Spaceship Earth and Journey Into Imagination with Figment—both are classic, gentle rides with big imagination. If you’ve got a Frozen fan in the house, the Frozen Ever After attraction in the Norway Pavilion is a must-do. Since you’re visiting during the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, you’re in for a treat. There are stunning character topiaries everywhere (my girls love the Moana ones), and don’t miss the Butterfly Landing. It is such a delight. There is also Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration scavenger hunt. For a small fee, it’s a fantastic way to keep little ones engaged as you explore the World Showcase. And for your thrill-seekers, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is a dance party in a coaster.

And now for the crown jewel: Magic Kingdom Park! This is where Disney dreams truly come alive. One of our favorite treats is the Create-Your-Own Popcorn Mix at Main Street Confectionery—my girls love customizing their own snack, and it's perfect for sharing. When it comes to rides, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is a big hit in our house (we’re always competing for Galactic Hero status!), and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is perfect for brave little adventurers. My youngest adores Pirates of the Caribbean—and yes, even the water smells magical! Don’t skip Enchanted Tales with Belle, where kids can become part of the story and meet Belle herself. We always end our night with the Happily Ever After fireworks over Cinderella Castle—it’s pure Disney magic and gives me chills every time.

Katie, while these are just a few of my family’s favorites, I recommend checking out the park maps and the My Disney Experience app to get a feel for what your family might enjoy most. And from one Disney mom to another—try not to over-plan. Some of our best memories came from spontaneous moments, like running into characters or discovering a new snack.

You are in for such a magical adventure! If you have any more questions, feel free to visit us again.
    See ya real soon!
