Best restaurant's for sitdown dinner with 2 year old

    Hi Dawn,

Welcome to planDisney! There's little I like better than talking about all the fabulous dining experiences at Walt Disney World, so I'm thrilled to offer some ideas for you and your family.

First, almost all dining at the theme parks, resorts and Disney Springs is open for guests of all ages. Our daughters had many signature dining meals when they were toddlers and preschoolers, and I've seen lots of families with small children at some of Walt Disney World's swankest restaurants, such as California Grill and Citrico's. Much of what makes a restaurant "best" for a little one depends on how long your child normally can sit at the table and how sensitive they are to elements of their surroundings, such as noise, other people and lighting.

With those caveats, let me suggest some of my favorites for food that also feel extra family-friendly. (All of these are currently accepting reservations as part of the phased reopening.)

The first that pops into my head is one of our family's top dining experiences at Walt Disney World: Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Not only is the food delicious (the bread service is amazing), the restaurant has big windows that look out onto the savanna, with a view of zebras, antelope and other animals. The atmosphere is casually elegant.

At EPCOT, my girls always loved the oompah band and the German favorites at Biergarten. It's a lot of fun, the food is yummy and the restaurant is relatively loud so you don't have to worry about your little one disturbing other diners.

We recently dined at Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen at Magic Kingdom with a 3-year-old and 9-month-old and it was perfect. This somewhat new restaurant has become our favorite place for a sitdown meal in Magic Kingdom, and it is incredibly kid-friendly.

It's hard for me to pick a favorite restaurant at Disney Springs. Our top choices for food there -- The Boathouse, Morimoto Asia, Raglan Road, Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' and Frontera Cocina -- all would welcome your little one and serve up a delicious meal for you.

Thanks for your question, Dawn. Now I'm starving! I hope that helps you as you make your online dining reservations, which currently are available 60 days in advance. If you have other questions, please don't hesitate to check back with us.

    Enjoy!
