Hi Marianne,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Wow - it sounds like you might be well on your way to becoming the official trip planner for your family. I love that!
When we have traveled with extended family, we have stayed in a villa and separate standard rooms. I prefer staying in a suite or villa because it keeps the family together. When staying in separate rooms, there is no guarantee that those rooms will be close to one another. Since I like to move efficiently to get to Fast Pass+ selections and dining reservations, I find it easier to get people moving when we stay in the same villa or suite.
Having said that, I suggest that you take a look at
deluxe and deluxe villa resorts hotels. My family loves Disney's Polynesian Village Resort - at Disney's Polynesian Villas and Bungalows, a bungalow sleeps up to eight adults. We also adore Disney's Contemporary Resort and, at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, we had a 2 Bedroom Villa. They also have Treehouse Villas that can accommodate up to nine adults. We loved having our own washer/dryer, two bathrooms and a full kitchen in the villa. Just check the
Special Offers to find the best deal. We saved money for a year to do the 2 Bedroom Villa, but it was worth it!
Marianne, finally, make sure you consider the location of the resort hotel. We prefer staying at resorts with Resort Monorail access because it makes getting to Magic Kingdom and Epcot easier. And, from Disney's Contemporary Resort, we can walk to Magic Kingdom. I suggest that you download the My Disney Experience Mobile App and use the Get Directions feature to see transit options and estimated transit times from your desired resort hotel.
Happy Planning!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
