Hi Kalisa!
Welcome to planDisney! Thank you so much for sending your
Disneyland Resort dining reservation question to us hEAR. I'm happy to be your planEAR today!
Oh boy! Mickey's Tales of Adventure Brunch Buffet at
Storytellers Cafe, located inside
Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, is one of my absolute favorite
character meals. The offerings seem more upscale than some of the other buffets and features more adventurous eats, like salmon and also cereal milk. But it still includes something for everyone, like made-to-order omelets and french toast with side containers of multiple toppings. And what would a Disney buffet be without everybody's favorite, Mickey waffles!
Technically everyone who will be sitting at the table, even if they aren't officially dining, will need to be included in the head count. For your group, your best bet will be to book two different dining reservations with seatings either at the same or as near the same time as you can get them. Then, when you check-in for your mickey meal, tell the Cast Member at the host stand that the two reservations are together and they'll take it from there. There are plenty of tables that can fit your party, it's just the pesky party-of-six rule that you mentioned is still in place from the yet to be lifted
reopening health and safety measures. The good thing about your party needing two reservations is you can sEARch for tables a few different ways; either as one table of six and one table for one, a table for five and a second for two, etc. You can even overbook a bit and look for seats for eight or possibly even 10 as you aren't charged for individual no-shows; the same-day cancelation fee only applies if an entire table backs out at the last minute. Do note that to book two reservations you
will need to use two
My Disneyland Accounts as each Guest can only hold one dining reservation within 90 minutes of another.
Some Pro Tips that I can offer about this dining location and your party:
~You could probably book one table for six and then try to include one more at the check-in podium. I can't guarantee it will work, but it's a shot. It would be much better if you could stop by Storytellers a day or two before your reservation to try to add your 7th, but they'll try to work with you day-of where they can.
~Try to eat here during the last hour of Brunch as it isn't a popular meal
start time. If you aim for a reservation to be seated between 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM, not only will you still have delicious food replenished during your whole meal, our favorite character friends will keep making the rounds until the last Guest leaves. In my experience, you'll have no problems getting two reservations sat together during this last brunch hour or even booking one table and adding one more person same day. (The later you can get the seating the better. You might even end up with your own section!)
